In both states are several good sites with pliocene and miocene deposits. We visited the Lee Creek Mine (="Aurora Shell Pit") in Beaufort County (NC)and the Martin Marietta Berkeley Quarry in Berkeley County (SC) only once. Our friend Dale Stream swapped several good shells with us.
