FRANCE: Eocene, Cuisian, Pyrenees, Screen 47: Gastropoda, Gisortia coombii 1
The most special shell in our collections is no doubt Gisortia gigantea. The logo of our foundation was taken from this shell. We found this strange animal in a claypit at the northern headlands of the Pyrenees. The shell was nearly complete, but badly deformed as you can see on this screen. We took it apart and spent two weeks in building it up again. The result you can see on the next screen.
